Tragic Loss: TikTok Sensation Sana Yousaf, 17, Killed in Shooting Incident

A young TikTok influencer has allegedly been killed by a 22-year-old man who had been rejected by her.
Sana Yousaf, who had over a million followers, was only 17 years old when she succumbed to a gunshot wound in her residence in Islamabad, the capital of Pakistan, on Monday (June 2).
Authorities in Pakistan confirmed her death on Tuesday, as reported by CBS News, and they have apprehended a man who had been loitering near her home for hours before the reported ‘horrific’ killing.
Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi, the chief of Islamabad police, stated during a press briefing that the 22-year-old had been rejected by Sana several times and was taken into custody within 20 hours following the teen’s death.

The teen created family-friendly content (@sanayousaf22/Instagram)
Rizvi remarked, “This was a case of repeated rejections. The young man was persistently trying to contact her.”
“This was a brutal and premeditated killing,” he stated.
Sana was a well-known content creator on social media, especially on TikTok, where she garnered over 800,000 followers for her engaging content, including lip-syncing videos, skincare tips, beauty promotions, and her stylish outfits.
In addition to her videos featuring cars and products, the young creator was also seen enjoying moments with her friends, relishing pizza, and sharing humor with her audience.

Sadly, the last video Sana posted was of her celebrating her 17th birthday by cutting a cake under a display of pink balloons, which was shared just hours before her death.
Numerous fans expressed their condolences in the comments of the video, saying “Rest in Peace” and “Justice for Sana.”
“This is incredibly tragic. A mere 17-year-old with so much innocence, taken for what reason?” remarked one follower.
“I can’t believe this,” another posted with a broken heart emoji. “May her soul rest in peace.”
A third user commented, “No one is safe in this country! This is so heart-wrenching!!”

This tragic event highlights the severe issue of violence against women and girls in Pakistan, where over 24,000 cases of abductions and kidnappings were reported last year, according to a recent study.
The study also noted that over 2,000 cases of domestic violence, more than 500 ‘honor killings’, and over 5,000 reported rapes occurred in 2024, with conviction rates remaining alarmingly low, under two percent for each type of crime.
UNFPA Pakistan also reveals that 28 percent of women aged 15 to 49 have faced physical violence, six percent have encountered sexual violence, and 34 percent of married women have experienced physical, sexual, and/or emotional violence from their partners.
Cases where women are attacked after turning down a man’s marriage proposal are also noted to be frequent, CBS News adds.
